EPIC Discovery Center

The EPIC Discovery Center project focused on creating a vibrant, engaging workplace that reflected the energy of the building while maintaining a functional environment for daily work. A key design challenge was incorporating bright, playful colors throughout the space without conflicting with the building’s existing finishes, resulting in a workplace that feels both professional and fun.

To support this vision, Eakes partnered with HON, AMQ, Steelcase, Sit On It, and 3H to provide furnishings throughout the facility. The reception area features a custom 3H workstation with a height-adjustable worksurface and integrated storage, creating a welcoming and functional first impression. HON workstations and meeting room furniture support collaborative work areas, while AMQ furnished private offices with desks, storage solutions, task seating, and mobile pedestals.

Sit On It furnishings were selected for many of the shared and guest spaces, including café seating, breakrooms, workstation islands, meeting rooms, and guest seating throughout the office. Their wide range of color options and strong value helped bring personality to the space while supporting budget goals. AMQ’s Revi mobile pedestal was also chosen for its versatility, offering storage, mobility, and an optional cushioned seat in a single solution.

The most rewarding moment came when the project was fully completed, and the design elements came together. Following months of planning, design, and installation coordination, Eakes successfully brought the vision to life, creating a welcoming environment that supports EPIC Discovery Center's mission as a hands-on children's museum to engage families to explore creativity and community through experience-based learning and play.
