McDonald Elementary School Library

Eakes partnered with McDonald Elementary School in North Platte to furnish their library space. With a focus on student-centered design, the goal of this project was to create flexible, age-appropriate spaces that encourage collaboration, independent reading, and group learning.

To achieve this vision, we incorporated feedback from the community and staff and selected products from HON and OFS; the products from these vendors are framed around function, safety, and educational goals. With rounded corners, non-toxic finishes, and highly durable materials, these products were carefully selected to withstand daily use by young students.

Utilizing diverse seating options from HON such as the Confetti Floor Lounge, Flock Minis, and SmartLink chairs as well as OFS Noe bench and Coact lounge, we were able to create flexible learning zones with an engaging, bright aesthetic. Build tables and Storyline bookcases from HON feature safe, rounded edges and wipeable surfaces to endure heavy, daily use.

These products allow for easy reconfiguration, so the library can easily transition between story time, group work, independent study, and technology integration. With both the functional and aesthetic needs of the space being met, this library fosters an environment where creativity, reading, and collaboration can thrive.
